On February 11, 2010, our client, Monier Roofing GmbH, a subsidiary of Monier Group GmbH, sold its Brazilian subsidiary, Monier Tégula Soluçőes para Telhados Ltda. to Eternit S.A., Brazil. Rothgordt & Cie. advised Monier on this truly international transaction from buyer identification to closing in a very challenging economic environment over the past several months. Tégula is the market leader in concrete roofs in Brazil with a productive capacity of about 70 million tiles per year and a market share of over 30% in the concrete roof segment. The Monier Group is the world leader in quality roofing and provider of building materials for pitched roofs, roofing components and chimney and ventilation systems as well as solar roofs with offices in over 40 countries. Its well-known brand portfolio comprises brands such as Braas in Germany and Redland in Great Britain. Eternit S.A. is the market leader in roof coverings, panels and cement slabs in Brazil. The acquisition of Tégula consolidates Eternit as the largest and most diversified company in the Brazilian roofing industry, with market share of 30% that it already has in the fiber cement roofing segment. |
